Planning Worship with Service Designer

An order of service is called a WorshiPlan.

Here is the main control screen for the WorshiPlan section of Service Designer. It is used for navigation, for specifying dates and service descriptions, and for Output options.

Output options include:

Printed output formats: Bulletin View, Director View, Musicians' Notes, Outline View, Tech Notes

Or export in Excel and HTML formats to other applications.

WorshiPlan Detail View

The Detail View allows the user to select material directly from Service Designer's own files (hymnals, songbooks, Choral/Vocal and Keyboard libraries) or, if you also own the Church Musician administration software, you can select anthems, collections, handbell pieces and orchestrations from that program without having to run both programs.

Service Designer will place the relevant information for each piece you select into the WorshiPlan, such as title, source, page reference, key, topics and scripture references. It will also automatically record your usage history for each piece you select when you use the Detail View. You may also type directly into it, adding notes for musicians, notes for technicians, etc.

A primary benefit of planning worship this way is that you can plan once, and print in multiple formats for the various groups that need their own custom order of service, such as your musicians and technicians. When you're ready to print, select from one of the printed output formats listed above. Or export as an Excel file for importing into other applications or as HTML to post on your church website.
