Tip:
An option for easier tuplets in Finale.
The
issue:
The
tuplet tool in Finale allows you to create tuplets, but only after
you have already entered the notes, a real pain if you have a
full measure. Why not tell Finale BEFORE you enter the notes which
ones are going to be tuplets (triplets, quintuplets, septuplets,
etc.)?
|
 |
 |
Here's how to do it: Use the "Speedy Note
Entry" tool and click on a blank measure. When the editing
frame appears, hold down the CTRL key and type a "3".
Note the small "3" in the upper right corner of the
editing frame. Finale will now create a triplet of the next three
notes you input using Speedy Note entry.
|

To create
quintuplets, type CTRL+5 before entering notes, or for septuplets, type
CTRL+7 before entering notes.
The note
durations in Speedy Entry can be typed on the number keys on your computer
keyboard, while pitches can be controlled with either the up/down arrow
keys or with a MIDI keyboard (be sure that "Use MIDI Device for
Input" is checked under the Speedy menu if you use this option).
