Tip:
Stems up/stems down: working in Layers on the same staff.
|
The
issue:
You
want to have two independent parts on the same staff, with stems
up for the upper voice and stems down for the lower voice. Note
that the red color of the lower voice is just a visual indicator
that those notes are in a different layer.
|
 |
 |
Here's how to do it: In the lower left corner
of the screen are the layer buttons. Click on the "1"
button and enter your upper voice in the staff using Simple Entry
or Speedy Entry. At first, the stems will be in the default direction,
but when you enter the lower voice, they will flip up.
|
| Now
click on the "layer 2" button in the lower left corner
of the screen and enter your lower voice in the staff using Simple
Entry or Speedy Entry. The stems will automatically flip. |
 |
Power
User tip: Bring in your lower voice midway through a measure.
 |
Here's
how to do it: Put in the upper voice in layer 1 as described
above, then activate layer 2 and enter your lower voice, putting
a "placeholder" half note in for the first 2 beats of
the measure. Now activate the Speedy entry tool and place the cursor
over the "placeholder" note. |
| With
the cursor over the "placeholder", press the "O"
key (letter O, not zero). The placeholder will be hidden. To "unhide"
a note that has been hidden, press the "O" key again. |
