Song Projection

Tips 'n' Trix

Words & Music™
Slides

Tip:
Display both words AND music on your projection screens.

The issue:
Make it easier to teach a new song, encourage strong singing, and enable singing in parts by putting music on the screens, not just "words only". Plus by encouraging musical literacy, you guarantee your continued employment in the future!

Solution:
Use the "Words & Music" slides which are included in the Service Designer software. They playback in PowerPoint, MediaShout, Easy Worship or many other worship projection packages.

Tag a hymn or song that has the "Words & Music Projection" option available in Service Designer.

Click the "Words & Music" button.

Click the "Get Tagged" button, then preview the slides for the song, edit the slides, or set a target for export.
If you choose to edit the slides, you must have PowerPoint® installed. The slides for each song are in 4 different formats in the PowerPoint file. Just delete the ones you don't want to use. The first format, shown above, highlights the staff that is currently being sung, with the next one grayed out, so the congregation always knows where to look.
The second format (above) is black text on a white background, which may be fine in rooms without much ambient light coming through windows.
The third format (above) is white text over a picture background of your choice. Obviously, you should choose a fairly dark picture so that the text and music stands out.
The fourth format (above) is white text over a black background, which may be the best solution for rooms with a lot of ambient light.
You may project the slides directly from PowerPoint. However, you may be using MediaShout. If so, use MediaShout's Insert>Slideshow command and select the appropriate Words & Music PowerPoint file.
