Music Scanning

Tips 'n' Trix

Tip:
Scan music and produce an accompaniment track in MP3 (or WAV) format.

The issue:
You need to have your praise team learn a song quickly. You want to e-mail them an MP3 file so they can practice with it (using their iPod or computer-based MP3 player).

Scan the music into SharpEye using the File>Acquire function. Once it has been scanned, use the Read>Read function. SharpEye will display the music as illustrated at left.

Use the File>MusicXML>Save As function to save the scan in MusicXML format. Make note of where you saved this file so you can find it in the next step.
Use the File>Open function in Sibelius or the File>MusicXML Import function in Finale to bring in the XML file you saved in the previous step.

If using Sibelius, click the CD icon on the toolbar to export as an audio file that you can attach and e-mail.

If using Finale, select File>Save Special>Save as Audio File, then specify whether you want to save as MP3 (compressed) or WAV (uncompressed).

Now you can attach the resulting MP3 file to an e-mail and send to your praise team.
